Come along and join us in the light and airy Arty Farty Studio, situated in the beautiful Chilterns with views across the valley and farmland. Our workshops cater for all skill levels and cover a whole range of mediums including Acrylics, Gouache, Indian Inks, Indian Block Printing. We have some fun Acrylic workshops coming up including the Funky Animal Paiinting Workshop and an Introduction to Abstract Painting with Mixed Media something to keep us all busy during the cooler months. We look forward to seeing Natalie Mclay of Trottiscliffe Willow the last weekend of most months to create those fabulous Animal Sculptures, Baskets and Garden Obelisks. Every school holiday we get to be spoilt by Needle Felting Royalty Felt and Dandy. Michelle of Mint Lettering has some lovely Modern Brush Calligraphy workshops coming up and how delighted am I to tell you that Lino Printer Sarah Weston is coming along to teach us all the wonderful art of Lino Printing.

​Always a fun workshop. In the morning you will be introduced to different mediums including, acrylic paints, pastels, collage and stencils to create a series of postcard size paintings. In the afternoon using the skills learnt in the morning you will put together your final piece of work. A great workshop for letting go.

Always a pleasure to have these guys, who really are the best in the business back in the studio giving us step by step instructions on how to carefully blend different wools and show us how to apply great attention enabling us to create this adorable "Little Sparrow" which will stand on ether a block or cotton reel. I am so excited to be hosting this workshops at Arty Farty with Sarah Weston the best Lino printing Artist in the area. So, come along and enjoy an ‘Introduction to reduction lino printing’ with print artist Sarah Weston. Reduction linocut is a method of block printing in which a multi-layered design is created from one lino block. Part of the design is carved into the lino and printed, and the process is then repeated for each layer of colour. This workshop is suitable for those who have little or no previous lino-cutting experience. As a member of a small group, you will have plenty of support and one to one instruction as required.
During the morning you will learn how to turn ideas into a design drawing, how to use tools safely to explore mark making and then carve your first layer. In the afternoon you will learn how to roll and apply ink and print your first layer. The carving and inking process is then repeated to achieve a second colour. By the end of the day you will have several 2-colour prints to take home.
Friday 8th November - CHRISTMAS CARDS We will be guided by Sarah to carve our own Christmas Cards before printing them off individually in one colour.
We will be shown how to use the tools, paints and rollers. Carve into the Lino and print off your very own unique Cristmas Cards to send to friends and family.

Oh we do love a Willow Session with Natalie from Trottiscliffe Willow. Usually, the last Saturday of the month we have Willow Weaving Animals, then on the Sunday throughout the Spring and summer months we can make Obelisks for the garden along with woven nest boxes and feeders for birds. Autumn/ WInter months we enjoy basket making. Natalie is a great tutor and gives you enough instruction to ensure that you learn all the skills to take home either your Willow Animal or Basket.

Come along and learn the skills on Indian Block Printing. After a demonstration on how to use the Printing Blocks and paints you will be given fabric to practice on before designing and printing your own Tea Towel. In the afternoon you are given the opportunity to print either a Cushion Cover, Tote Bag or Scarf to take home.

Oh what fun we have on this fun and funky animal painting workshop. You will leave the session with a fabulous painting worthy of wall space. You are shown how to draw an image onto your canvas and to paint the animal of your choice using different brushes and layers of paint to produce a piece of work that is guaranteed to make you smile.

Come along and discover the fabulous fun you can have with Indian Ink and Gouache paint.
You will start the class by being shown how to draw a Chicken before adding gouache paint then the Indian Ink which adds its special bit of magic to the painting creating something very dramatic. In the afternoon you will choose a subject of your choice (lots of ideas are provided) so that you can work on your final piece. Work is carried out on watercolour paper.
A fabulous somewhat messy workshop with some very creative results.
