Come along and join us in the light and airy Arty Farty Studio, situated in the beautiful Chilterns with views across the valley and farmland. Our workshops cater for all skill levels and cover a whole range of mediums including Acrylics, Gouache, Indian Inks, Indian Block Printing. We have some fun Acrylic workshops coming up including the Funky Animal Paiinting Workshop and an Introduction to Abstract Painting with Mixed Media something to keep us all busy during the cooler months. We look forward to seeing Natalie Mclay of Trottiscliffe Willow the last weekend of most months to create those fabulous Animal Sculptures, Baskets and Garden Obelisks. Every school holiday we get to be spoilt by Needle Felting Royalty Felt and Dandy. Michelle of Mint Lettering has some lovely Modern Brush Calligraphy workshops coming up and how delighted am I to tell you that Lino Printer Sarah Weston is coming along to teach us all the wonderful art of Lino Printing.

Come along and discover the fabulous fun you can have with Indian Ink and Gouache paint.
You will start the class by being shown how to draw a Chicken before adding gouache paint then the Indian Ink which adds its special bit of magic to the painting creating something very dramatic. In the afternoon you will choose a subject of your choice (lots of ideas are provided) so that you can work on your final piece. Work is carried out on watercolour paper.
A fabulous somewhat messy workshop with some very creative results.

Jig Saw Lino Printing with Sarah Weston

‘Jigsaw’ linocut printing workshop
Come and learn how to make a two or three-colour linocut print using the ‘jigsaw’ technique.
This method of printmaking is used to create multi-coloured prints. Once your design has been carved in to the lino block, you will cut it into sections ready for inking. Each piece is then inked in one of your chosen colours and reassembled, like a jigsaw, ready to print your design in one go!
What you will learn
· How to plan and create a simple two-colour jigsaw print
· Learn how to carve your design using a range of tools (using polymer lino)
· How to ink your lino using water-based inks
· How to hand burnish your print onto paper
This workshop is suitable for those who have little or no previous lino-cutting experience. As a member of a small group, you will have plenty of support and one to one instruction as required.
Before the workshop have a think about the image you would like to design and print and bring along any inspiration to support your drawing.

Oh we do love a Willow Session with Natalie from Trottiscliffe Willow. Usually, the last Saturday of the month we have Willow Weaving Animals, then on the Sunday throughout the Spring and summer months we can make Obelisks for the garden along with woven nest boxes and feeders for birds. Autumn/ WInter months we enjoy basket making. Natalie is a great tutor and gives you enough instruction to ensure that you learn all the skills to take home either your Willow Animal or Basket.
These workshops are VERY popular as you can imagine, so please book asap.

Come along and learn the skills on Indian Block Printing. After a demonstration on how to use the Printing Blocks and paints you will be given fabric to practice on before designing and printing your own Tea Towel. In the afternoon you are given the opportunity to print either a Cushion Cover, Tote Bag or Scarf to take home.
